I am an associate professor of urban planning at the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy, where I teach classes in city life and structure, justice in public policy, and public transit. My research centers on justice, environments, and urban life. I grew up in Iowa, and I now live in the middle of Los Angeles, right near where I work. The neighborhood I live in is called Wellington Square, and it’s just off Crenshaw. I haven’t driven in a car in 15 years, and if I ever do drive again, it will be too soon for me.
I love Los Angeles. I simply do. There is no explaining this love to those who do not.
